Speedcubing is a globally recognised sport in which competitors solve combination puzzles in the shortest possible time.
The most popular event is the well-known 3×3 Cube . However, the dimensions of the Cube may vary from 2×2 to 7×7, and there are also puzzles of different shapes (e.g. Pyraminx). Finally, some events involve increased difficulty as they require solving the Cubes with closed eyes, one-handedly, etc.
The world’s fastest Cubers test their skills in the World Cub Association (WCA) tournaments, with the biggest Cube Event of all being the World Championship held every two years. The last World Championships were held in 2023 in Incheon, South Korea, while the 2025 event is scheluded to take place in Seattle, USA.
In these big tournaments, professional Cubers manage to solve the cubes at breakneck speeds. Indicatively, the world record for solving the 3×3 Cube is 3.13s and was set in 2023 by Max Park.
