The Rubik’s cube has been holding the title of the most popular game in the world over the last half century as hundreds of millions of people have dared to take on the challenge of solving it over the years. Finally, when the more persistent ones managed to find the “key to its mysterious lock”, the next question inevitably arose:
“How much faster can I go”?
There is no upper or lower age limit to participate in a WCA event, as both kids and adults compete together in a unified group. And while that may, at first glance, seem unfair to the younger competitors, prepare to be amazed at their astonishing accomplishments that bring, more often than not, the championship trophies in the grasp of their… tiny hands.
Therefore, the only condition for anybody’s participation in a Speedcubing competition is to bring their puzzle with them so that they can use it in each contest. And by “puzzle”, we mean any of the 17 three-dimensional challenges that are official WCA events. The 3×3 Cube might still be the undisputed “Star of the show” but puzzles of different sizes (2×2, 4×4, 5×5 etc) and shapes (Pyraminx, Megaminx etc) have their own unique appeal, while the One-Handed and Blind-Folded contests make excitement reach a whole new level. Each contestant can choose which events interest them the most and try their luck against the timer.
If you wish to be a part of that whole experience, all you have to do is regularly check out the WCA website (www.worldcubeassociation.org/competitions) for the announcement of new competitions, limiting your search with the “Greece” filter for all national upcoming events. When you find an event that intrigues you, follow the direct instructions to Register and be ready for the fun to start!
Of course, you can stay updated for all that happens in the Cubing world via the Cubestore.gr Website and Social Media (Facebook and Instagram), so that you do not miss out on a single moment of Speedcubing action. We will be glad to meet you all in person, have fun, share our “deepest Speedcubing secrets” and celebrate with many trophies and prizes at the end of every Speedcubing competition!
